This handsome fellow is Buddy. Buddy has lived his whole life without his own forever home. He was an unaltered, neglected farm dog who went from house to house to play and be loved by kids. He finally ended up at a home where the people loved him but could not keep him, so they contacted WHARF to help find this guy his forever home. Buddy loves people, but is not so good with cats and likes to chase livestock. He likes other dogs and has made some doggy friends in his foster home, but he still lacks a bit with doggy etiquette and can come on to strong and provoke other dogs. He has taken to indoor living with no problems. He is house trained and kennelled trained, but loves to snuggle in bed with you if you let him. He is doing really well with leash training and he listens extremely well when offleash. He has lots of energy and enjoys chasing squirrels on the acreage where he is being fostered. This big boy is Loki. He came into care with his brother Thor, who has already found his forever home. Loki is still searching for his, but he needs a very special home with a dedicated family. This is because Loki is a Special Needs dog; he is deaf. Loki's foster home has been doing a really good job with his training so far, but because he is still young this will all have to be continued by his adoptive family. He is currently being taught sign language for his basic commands, and he is very smart so he is learning them fast! Loki is house and kennel trained; he can be destructive if left unsupervised in the house, so the adopter must continue with his kennel training to ensure he stays safe while they are out. He is great on leash, as well, with other cats and dogs. Due to his hearing impairment off-leash activities should be proceeded with caution, and preferably in a fenced area. Also, because of his size and puppy tendencies he would do best in a home with older children. Loki has food allergies, and the adoptive family would be agreeing to maintain his diet to ensure he stays healthy. His food costs are approximately $140/month, so this should be kept in mind by the adopter. Loki is a very strong boy and still has a lot of growing to do. He is looking for a strong, confident owner who has a lot of time and patience to continue training him, and whom is able to give him proper boundaries to ensure he grows into a well mannered adult dog. We were then taken to the pound where we had no sign of owners at all, they think we are reserve dogs so we are so happy to have a place to stay and not scrounging for food all the time. Spud is my name and I am the cutest boy out there. I have a snaggle tooth that makes me adorable and when I go to lick you I bump it on you all the time. I came up from the Puppy House in Mexico, the puppy house was a rescue that closed down after they got over run and no one was stepping in to help them. Coco's Cat Rescue caught wind and started to help these dogs, they were moved to Akumal Ranch where they could be looked after properly and then treated, fixed and transfered to other rescues. I was one of the special cases that came from the Puppy House. I am around 6 years old and had the worst knees ever, I fell all the time and couldn't go up and down stairs let alone jump or run. It was definitley no life for a dog. No one could afford to help me or do my surgery. I lived like this for all my life, and is was some of the worst pain a dog could ever feel. I was then transfered up to WHARF where they were excited for me to finally get my Patella surgery done. I was brought in to see their vet and he wanted to start my surgery right away so I stayed and got one of my legs done. The vet siad it was the worst knee he had ever seen, they were an inch away from where they were supposed to be. After 6 weeks of kennel rest and exercise I got my last knee surgery. I am so happy, I am almost pain free and can start playing and running and going for walks with the other dogs. Now to tell you a little bit about myself. I have been in care for about 13 weeks now but most of that has been spent in recovery, my full personality has not come out yet but I do get attached to things very easily and that is because I had absolutely nothing in Mexico and now I am given these amazing things that I don't want to let go. I love my foster mom but she has to watch because I get very jealous when other animals go near her. I am also a hoarder, which means I will steal anything I can drag into my kennel and try and hide it, I don't wreck anything but I want everything to be mine. My foster mom is teahcing me that I can't have everything and that sharing is good. I am learning but it's kinda hard. I get along great with the other dogs and the cats and I love people. I also love to snuggle, I will spoon with you all night or I like to rest my head on your shoulder. But if you don't want me in the bed I love to sleep in laundry baskets, I will pick that over a dog bed any day. I am a really sweet boy but will need a very special home. My name is Stitch and I was brought into care from these two people that rescued me off the reserve. I had the biggest wound on my back ever that was so infected, they thought I had been shot but after my trip to the vet WHARF found out that it was a huge bite probably from a dog fight. I've had to have many trips to vet for the infection I had and had to have many procedures for cleaning and draining the infection out. I am now on my road to recovery and am healing very good. I am a good little boy and so appreciative that someone was able to help me. I am sweet and loving and will make a very good boy one day.
